WILFRED Ndidi has decided to stay at Leicester City and sign a new deal with the English club after turning down offers from clubs across Europe, including Sevilla, Olympic Marseille and Monaco.
The Super Eagles midfielder’s contract with the Foxes expired at the end of June and he was linked with a move away, with even Spanish giants Barcelona mentioned as having an interest.
However, the 27-year-old Ndidi is now set to sign a new contract with Leicester City who he helped gain promotion back to the English Premier League last season.
Footmercato reported that Ndidi opted to stick with Leicester City despite tempting offers from Sevilla in Spain as well as Marseille, Monaco and Olympique Lyon in France.
The transfer website claimed last night that the Nigeria international had reached an agreement with the Foxes to extend his stay.
European transfer expert Fabrizio Romano provided more details of the agreement, reporting that Ndidi signed a new three-year deal that would take his time at Leicester City to 10 years.
According to Romano, the contract includes a release clause which would make it easier for Ndidi to leave if an interested club were to meet the requirements.
Ndidi joined Leicester City from Genk in January 2017 for around €18m and has been one of the club’s most important players since, making 273 appearances in seven-and-a-half years at the club.
