Nigeria’s Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action, Ajuri Ngelale, has championed Africa’s green economic interests during high-level discussions at the Global Energy Transition Congress in Milan, Italy.
The talks, held over dinner on Sunday night, included prominent figures such as former U.S. Special Presidential Envoy on Climate John Kerry and former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair.
Ngelale utilized this exclusive platform to underscore the necessity of directing the global energy transition towards generating green economic opportunities for Nigerians and Africans.
“I was humbled and honoured by the opportunity to exchange views over dinner with former U.S. Special Presidential Envoy on Climate, H.E. John Kerry, former UK Prime Minister, H.E. Tony Blair, ex-CNN Global Emerging Markets Editor, Mr. John Defterios, and other high-level dignitaries at the Global Energy Transition Congress on Sunday night in Milan, Italy,” Ngelale said.
He added, “I was struck by the increasing prioritisation of climate justice in the global south, and my focus remains on steering the energy transition toward green economic opportunity for Nigerians and Africans at large.”
