The Nigerian Railway Commission (NRC) on Friday Suspended the Warri-Itakpe train service.
The suspension was made after the train from Kogi to Delta derailed at about 7:15 pm on Thursday.
Recall that NRC had suspended the Warri-Itakpe rail service in January 2023 after its train derailed at about 12:30 pm with about 178 passengers and crew members on board.
Recently in May, a train moving from Kaduna to Abuja derailed at Jere having three of its carriages off the tracks.
Barely two months after that, passengers onboard Warri-Itakpe reported how the train overshot a station it was supposed to stop due to brake failure before leaving its track accidentally.
Addressing the incident that sparked fear among passengers, the NRC in a post on its X handle formally Twitter described the incident as an โunexpected fault.โ
The commission said, โDue to an unexpected fault, train operations are suspended for today.
โWe apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.โ
