Rivers Police Probe Death Of Vigilante Member

The Rivers State Police Command has launched a full-scale investigation into the killing of a member of the ONELGA SECURITY PLANNING ADVISORY COMMITTEE (OSPAC) by unknown gunmen in Igwuruta community, Ikwerre Local Government Area.

According to police spokesperson SP Grace Iringe Koko, the deceased, identified as Prince, was part of a team that responded to a distress call about a kidnapping incident in the area.

It was gathered that the team was ambushed by unknown gunmen, who opened fire on the security personnel, resulting in the death of the OSPAC member.

A community member explained that: โ€œone of the OSPAC members was killed by suspected gunmen yesterday. He joined others on a rescue mission but as they arrived, the gunmen ambushed them, shooting sporadically. It was a chaotic scene, and we in the community were all running for our lives.โ€

The Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Command, Olatunji Disu, has condemned the attack and promised to leave no stone unturned in ensuring that those responsible are brought to justice.
