Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has appointed Professor Akewushola Raheem Olasupo as the Provost of Lagos State College of Health Technology (LASCOHET), effective July 2, 2024.
His appointment was contained in a letter with reference LGS/HOS/178/XII/197, dated July 9, 2024, and signed by the Head of Service, Mr Bode Agoro, highlighted Governor Sanwo-Oluโs confidence in Akewushola, a professor of Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship, to advance the Education and Technology pillar of the T. H.E.M.E.S Plus agenda.
Akewushola, who was the immediate past Dean Faculty of Management Sciences, Lagos State University, in his new role as Provost, will be leading LASCOHETย for a five-year term, until July 2, 2029.
His appointment heralds a new era for the Lagos State College of Health Technology, with expectations high to leverage his vast experience and academic prowess to elevate the institution to new heights.
โIโm pleased to convey the approval of Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Governor of Lagos State on your appointment as Provost Lagos State College of Health Technology for a single term of 5 of years with effect from 2nd July 2024 to 2nd July 2029,โ the letter read in part.
Governor Sanwo-Olu praised the Epe-born scholar, underscoring his potential to drive educational excellence in the state. He has been celebrated for his expertise in crafting organizational vision and mission statements, feasibility studies, and case study analyses.
Akewusholaโs impressive accolades include the Award of Recognition from LASUMBA (2022), Awards of Excellence from BAMSA (2021) and BAMSA-LASU (2020), and recognitions from the Institute of Classic Entrepreneurship Nigeria (ICENT) and the Institute of Investment Professionals (IIP).
Notably, he was honoured as the Most Admired Lecturer at LASU in 2005 and has served on the Scientific Board of the โLex ET Scientiaโ International Journal in Romania since 2011.
His academic credentials are remarkable, with a Ph.D. in Business Administration from LASU (2010), an MBA in Management from the University of Ilorin (2003), an M.Sc. in General Management from the University of Lagos (2003), a Certificate of Computer from the University of Ilorin (1997), and a B.Sc. in Economics from LASU (1995).
