Mrs Didi Esther Walson-Jack has been appointed as the new Head of Service of the Federation, replacing the current occupier of the seat, Mrs Folasade Yemi-Esan.

The appointment of Mrs Walson-Jack was approved by President Bola Tinubu. She will take over from Mrs Yemi-Esan, who is retiring from the service on August 13, 2024.

A statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Ajuri Ngelale, on Wednesday night disclosed that the new Head of Service will assume duty on Wednesday, August 14, 2024.

Mrs Walson-Jack was appointed Federal Permanent Secretary in 2017 and has served in several ministries.

โ€œPresident Tinubu, while thanking the outgoing Head of Service for her stewardship, tasks the incoming Head of Service to discharge her duties with innovative flair, integrity, and stringent adherence to the extant rules and regulations of the Civil Service of the Federation,โ€ a part of the statement said.

Business Post recalls that on September 19, 2019, former President Muhammadu Buhari appointed Mrs Yemi-Esan as the acting Head of Service, replacing Mrs Winifred Ekanem Oyo-Ita, who was suspended from office then.

Before then, she was a Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, where she was appointed as Director on the Boards of the Nigeria LNG.
