The Nkwoachara Ward Development Union, Umuawa Alaocha Ohuhu, situated in Umuahia North LGA, Abia State, has requested the Clerk of the National Assembly to furnish the community with information regarding the allocation of funds to the representative of Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal constituency, Obi Aguocha, from June 2023 to August 2024.
The petitioners submitted their letter through their legal representatives, Chijioke Udeogu and Co Solicitors, Arbitrators, and Legal Consultants, and also requested details of the constituency projects allocated to Abia Central Senatorial District, which they argued directly impact them as constituents.
According to the petitioners, the House of Representatives member, Obi, has not been representing them well so far.
The constituents also requested information about the funds given to the Abia Central senatorial district, which is currently represented by Senator Austin Akobundu, from June 2023 to August 2024. They also asked for information about all the ongoing and completed projects in the constituency, along with the approved budgets for each of these projects, from June 2023 to August 2024.
Apart from these, the Nkwoachara people also demanded to know the details of all palliatives and other forms of Social Welfare packages approved and released by the National Assembly for the Abia Central Senatorial district for the period under review.
Reacting to the development, Nnaemeka Ekechukwu, the Chairman of the Labour Party (LP) in Nkwoachara Ward in Umuahia North, said that his party has no record of any letter against Obi Agoucha.
He said that Agoucha has been representing his people well and sustaining unity.
However, the media office of Obi Agoucha has responded to the matter, stating that the Reps member has seen the reports on social media. They confirmed that the Reps member has been open in his representation of his constituents and has no secrets, including his commitment to facilitate the release of Nnamdi Kanu from detention.
