No fewer than 100 children within the Chess in Slum community will enjoy free health insurance from AXA Mansard Health in line with its drive for inclusive protection.
The underwriter also disclosed in a statement that the gesture is to demonstrate its belief that quality healthcare should be accessible, available and affordable to everyone, notwithstanding socio-economic class, gender or age.
According to the Chief Marketing Officer of AXA Mansard, Ms Adebola Surakat, a sustainable world is an insurable world, hence all well-meaning individuals, social, and corporate citizens must commit to continue to bridge the societal gaps.
The health cover will provide the children with necessary curative treatments, regular check-ups, and preventive health care without financial strain on their parents and community.
โInclusive protection is one of the ways we ensure that we bring vulnerable members of the public into the protection net,โ Ms Adebola stated.
โWe are happy to be undertaking this initiative with Chess in Slums.ย We are convinced that their endeavour with children in vulnerable communities is commendable.
โSo, this is our way of showing them support. We hope this gesture will serve as an elixir for them to do more,โ she added, assuring that the insurer will continue to push the boundaries of making the society a better place.
Ms Adebola, who noted that the quest for a sustainable world is the core of AXAโs purpose to act for human progress by protecting what matters, disclosed that โas the children benefit from good and quality healthcare and with the impact from Chess in Slums, they will grow to become worthy ambassadors that will drive our collective progress.โ
On his part, the Chief Operating Officer of Chess in Slums Africa, Mr Emmanuel Abiodun Oke, said, โAt Chess in Slums, we take a holistic approach to child and community development, recognizing that a childโs well-being is deeply interconnected with their environment, health, and growth opportunities.โ
โThis is because we understand that if we must inspire genuine transformation, we must also address the multiple layers of complexities influencing their lives, from education to family support, healthcare and education.
โOur partnership with AXA Mansard Health is crucial in removing the barriers to health and ensuring that children in vulnerable communities have access to essential healthcare.
โBy doing this, we are not just empowering these childrenโwe are creating a foundation for sustainable, long-term development for both the families and the community,โ said Emmanuel Abiodun Oke, the Chief Operating Officer of Chess in Slums Africa.
โThe initiative aligns with our ongoing commitment to corporate social responsibility and community support. In addition to this donation, the company continues to engage in various charitable activities and partnerships that promote health, education, and community development,โ he further stated.
