Gunmen on Tuesday invaded the Ajebandele community in Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State, robbing and attacking farmers.
NewsNGR learnt that the gunmen numbering about five arrived at the community around 3 AM on Tuesday and launched an attack on the community.
A security source in the community disclosed that the gunmen usually invade the community to unleash mayhem and rob farmers.
โOn Tuesday, around 3AM, they invaded our community and we quickly put a call through to the police who joined us to engage them.
โDuring the gun battle, we arrested the leader of the gang called Koolu and his other gang members ran away. The police took him away.โ
When contacted, the spokesperson of Osun State Police Command, Yemisi Opalola confirmed the arrest of the leader identified as 25-year-old Abidoye Rafiu.
โWe recovered two guns, a touch light, one sharp cutlass, one bag of fresh cocoa and one utility phone. The suspect sustained minor bullet injury on his left leg,โ Opalola said, noting that investigation and surveillance were in progress to arrest the fleeing members of the group.
