Ahmed Ali Ahmed, the Commissioner of Finance for Borno State, was found dead on Monday morning at his residence on Damboa Road in Maiduguri, the state capital.
His passing was confirmed by Usman Tar, the Commissioner of Information and Internal Security, in an official statement.
According to sources close to the matter, concerns arose when Ahmed did not wake up at his usual time. This prompted those around him to force open the door to his room, where they discovered his lifeless body.
Ahmed, who was sworn in as Finance Commissioner on August 10, 2024, had previously served as the State Zonal Manager of Zenith Bank in Maiduguri.
His sudden death marks the third loss of a key official in Governor Babagana Zulum’s administration since the governor began his second term in May 2023.
Tar stated that the burial of the late commissioner would be conducted according to Islamic rites at his residence on Monday evening.
