In his first television interview since withdrawing from the presidential race, President Joe Biden issued a stern warning about Republican candidate Donald Trump, calling him “a genuine danger to American security.”
Speaking with CBS News in a pre-taped interview aired on Sunday, Biden emphasized the critical moment in global history and highlighted the importance of democracy.
“Mark my words, if he wins this election, watch what happens,” Biden cautioned, adding that Trump poses a significant threat to the nation’s security. The 81-year-old President has maintained a low profile since his decision to exit the race, following concerns about his debate performance and questions surrounding his age and mental fitness.
During the interview, Biden admitted that his debate performance was lacking, but he reassured viewers that he has “no serious problem” health-wise. He explained that his withdrawal was motivated by concerns from other Democratic politicians who feared his continued candidacy could harm their re-election prospects. Biden made it clear that his primary focus remains on preventing Trump from returning to power, stating, “We must, we must, we must defeat Trump.”
