Enyimba Football Club has officially announced the appointment of Yemi Olanrewaju as the club’s substantive Head Coach.
Olanrewaju, who previously served as the People’s Elephant’s interim coach in May, has now been entrusted with the role on a permanent basis.
The appointment comes after the departure of Finidi George.
Olanrewaju had the opportunity to follow Finidi to Rivers United but chose to stay and carve out his own path at Enyimba.
Olanrewaju, a former Assistant Coach of the Golden Eaglets, joined Enyimba as an Assistant Coach in 2022.
His impact was immediately felt, as he played a pivotal role in the club’s successful campaign during the 2022–23 season, which culminated in a title victory.
The 32-year-old tactician signed his contract at Enyimba’s secretariat in Aba on Tuesday, marking the beginning of a new era for the club. Olanrewaju’s appointment reflects Enyimba’s faith in his abilities to lead the team to further success, building on the foundations laid during his interim tenure.
Fans and football analysts alike will be watching closely to see how Olanrewaju’s leadership will shape the future of Enyimba, as he now steps into the spotlight as the main man at the helm of Nigeria’s most successful football club.
