FG Vows To Revamp Water Projects Across Nigeria

The Federal Government of Nigeria has vowed to revamp the water infrastructure across the country.

This is just as the Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Engr Joseph Utsev lamented that the current output of dams can not cater for the usage of the local communities.

Utsev while inspecting dams in Osun State; Ile-Ife and Ilesa on Thursday also disclosed that he is touring the Southwest dams to know their conditions.

He said โ€œwhat I have seen so far, the current of water output is not insufficient to meet the needs required to supply the local inhabitants.

โ€œThe quantum of water available for treatment and distribution to the inhabitants is not enough. We have engaged a consultant.

โ€œWhen I return to the office, myself alongside the Commissioner of Water Resources in the state, the Director of Water Supply, the Director of Dams, and the consultant, we will review the findings.

โ€œOur goal is to find the most effective solution that is environmentally friendly, cost-effective, and capable of providing the necessary quantity of water for treatment and supply to the people in this area.โ€

He disclosed that โ€œthis is the first day of our three-day visit around the South West region. By tomorrow, we will inspect several other water projects. After this tour, I will have a message for Nigerians regarding our findings and the way forward.โ€

Earlier, the Osun State Commissioner of Water Resources and Energy, Olufemi Oroniyi expressed confidence in the positive impact of the projects.

He noted that the projects will significantly benefit the government of Governor Ademola Adeleke and contribute to the federal governmentโ€™s broader objectives.
