The Imo State Government has sealed off eight Hotels and Apartments across the state capital over their failure to comply with tax remittance to the state.
The sealing was carried out on Wednesday by the Debt Management and Enforcement Department of Imo State Internal Revenue Service (IIRS)
The affected hotels and apartments include Lavianto hotel, Titanic View Hotel and suites Ltd, Heroes Luxury Apartment and Zoey International hotel.
Others are Benconn Hotel, Hotel Ibis Royale, Hotel Arizona Ltd and Zeeworld Hotel.
According to a statement from the IIRS, the enforcement will continue until maximum tax compliance is achieved in the state.
โThe Debt Management and Enforcement Department of IIRS on Wednesday, 14th August 2024, sealed off the premises of eight (8) hotels/apartments within the state.
โThe said defaulters refused to comply with tax remittance in accordance with the tax laws.
โThe IIRS remains devoted in ensuring full compliance with extant tax laws and urges all taxpayers in the State to be consistent in remitting their taxes as at when due to avoid sanctions.
โThe enforcement unit of IIRS will continue the exercise until maximum tax compliance level is reached in Imo State,โ the IIRS said in a statement it also shared on its social media platforms.
