The Kaduna Governor, Senator Uba Sani, on Wednesday, inaugurated a groundbreaking 200 hectares of housing project in the New Millennium City, in partnership with Urban Shelter to address the housing challenges in the state.
Performing the groundbreaking at the Urban Shelter Estate, Millennium City, Chikun LG, on Wednesday, the governor said the project, aimed at providing affordable housing solutions for the poor, vulnerable, and underserved communities, was a testament to his administration’s commitment to addressing the state’s housing deficit.
Represented by his Deputy, Dr. Hadiza Balarabe, Sani who said housing was not just a mere structure but “a Pilar of human dignity” emphasized the administration’s priority on housing while highlighting the comprehensive strategy employed to address the housing challenges.
This, according to him, includes partnerships with local and international investors, implementing a Social Housing Scheme, and strengthening the Public Housing Corporation.
He noted that the project was expected to transform the lives of citizens and demonstrate the government’s commitment to social responsibility.
This was just as the governor added that Urban Shelter’s investment in the state was a clear indication of the government’s efforts to attract local and international investors to the state’s housing sector.
The Governor encouraged other investors to seize the opportunities in Kaduna State’s housing sector, assuring them of a robust policy framework and steadfast commitment from the government.
He said,”housing is not merely a structure; it is a fundamental pillar of human dignity. Access to safe, affordable, and secure housing is essential for every citizen.
“Our collaboration with both local and international investors has been pivotal in addressing our housing challenges head-on.
“I commend Urban Shelter for recognizing the potential of Kaduna State and prioritizing it in your investment strategy. Your commendable efforts in developing over 25 hectares of land in Millennium City, both Phase I and II, have paved the way for this new 200 hectares housing project under a Development Lease Agreement with the Kaduna State Government.
“I encourage both local and international investors to seize the immense opportunities available in Kaduna State’s housing sector. We extend not just an invitation but a firm assurance that your investments will be supported by a robust policy framework and steadfast commitment from our government.
“Today’s groundbreaking is a powerful affirmation of your dedication to providing affordable housing for the poor, vulnerable, and underserved communities in Kaduna State. You exemplify not only a driving force in Nigeria’s real estate sector but also a model of social responsibility.”
