Kaduna Police Smashes Cattle Rustling, Kidnapping Syndicate, Recovers AK-47

In a major breakthrough, the Kaduna State Police Command has arrested two cattle rustlers and two notorious gun runners, while also foiling a kidnapping attempt in separate operations across the state.

The Commandโ€™s Public Relations Officer, Mansir Hassan, ASP, added that the police apprehended Aminu Saleh and Jafar Ibrahim, both members of a syndicate responsible for rustling cattle from innocent farmers in the Kasuwa Magani area of Kujama.

In a related development, Hassan in a statement issued on Sunday, said operatives also foiled a kidnapping attempt and arrested three suspects โ€“ Umar Baso, Shehu Filani, and Babangida Abdulkarim โ€“ who were demanding a ransom of N10 million from their victim.

He continued that the police arrested two suspects, Dahiru Liman and Sani Abdullahi Makeri, involved in supplying arms and ammunition to kidnappers operating in Kaduna, Katsina, and Zamfara States.

According to him, a fabricated AK-47 rifle and five rounds of 9mm live ammunition were recovered during the operation.

The police spokesman quoted the State Commissioner of Police, Audu Ali Dabigi, to have commended the operatives for their efforts and urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.

He reassured residents of the Commandโ€™s commitment to dismantling criminal networks and ensuring the safety and well-being of all citizens across the state.

The statement said, โ€œon August 22, 2024, Police Operatives conducted a successful raid on a hideout used by a notorious syndicate involved in cattle rustling in the Kasuwa Magani area of Kujama, Kaduna.

โ€œTwo suspects, Aminu Saleh (25) and Jafar Ibrahim (24), were apprehended and confessed to their involvement in the crime.

โ€œIn a separate incident, Police Operatives foiled a kidnapping attempt and arrested three suspects โ€“ Umar Baso, Shehu Filani, and Babangida Abdulkarim โ€“ who were demanding a ransom of N10 million.

โ€œAdditionally, on August 24, 2024, Operatives arrested two suspects, Dahiru Liman (47) and Sani Abdullahi Makeri (45), involved in supplying arms and ammunition to kidnappers operating in Kaduna, Katsina, and Zamfara States. One fabricated AK-47 rifle and five rounds of 9mm live ammunition were recovered during the operation.
