No fewer than 11 people travelling on the Kaduna-Zaria highway have been killed in a road accident involving a truck and a Golf car.
The incident happened at Gwargwaje, Zaria, at about 5:50 a.m. on Friday.
NewsNGR learnt that all the 11 victims were inside the Golf vehicle with registration number FST 134FX.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Kaduna State Sector Commander, Kabir Nadabo, confirmed the incident in a statement, adding that four passengers in the truck were injured.
Nadabo explained that a team of police officers from the Gwargwaje Division conducted the initial rescue operation and subsequently informed the Unit Commander of RS1.3 Zaria.
โPreliminary investigations revealed that the Golf, carrying 11 people, all males, was involved in a route violation, (driving on a one-way path) without headlights and it led to a collision with an oncoming MAN truck carrying four passengers.
โThe fatal crash resulted in the instant death of all 11 people in the Golf, while the four people in the truck were injured,โ Nadabo stated adding that โAfter the rescue, a team from the FRSC Zaria Unit arrived at the scene and transported all the bodies and the injured to ABUTH Shika.โ
