The Real Madrid superstar’s hacked account shared tweets referencing a potential transfer to Manchester United, comments on the Cristiano Ronaldo-Lionel Messi rivalry, and the promotion of a cryptocurrency token named ‘MBAPPE.’
The series of bizarre tweets included a claim that ‘MBAPPE’ tokens had reached 90,000 sales, quickly catching the attention of the online community.
The hacked account also teased a transfer to Manchester United, with the post declaring, “Manchester is Red,” and endorsing a popular United fan account.
Among the most shocking posts was a tweet in support of Cristiano Ronaldo over Lionel Messi, with a derogatory comment aimed at the Argentine star.
The tweet read: “Cristiano Ronaldo is the greatest football player of all time. The midget [Lionel Messi] is NOT my goat.”
The hack didn’t stop there. Mbappe’s account posted controversial tweets about other Premier League clubs, including Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur. However, all the posts were swiftly deleted after being noticed by the public.
In a curious twist, the release of the ‘MBAPPE’ token saw its market value surge to tens of millions within minutes, only to crash back to zero just as quickly. Reports emerged of a user who profited significantly during the brief surge, turning a small investment into a windfall of approximately $151,500.
Mbappe, who recently made his debut for Real Madrid, has been in the spotlight for his on-pitch performance as well.
While he scored in a 2-0 victory over Atlanta in the UEFA Super Cup, the French forward has yet to find the back of the net in La Liga, missing out in both a 1-1 draw with Mallorca and a 3-0 win over Valladolid.
