In a shocking incident in Lagos, a fully loaded high-capacity Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) vehicle overturned within the dedicated BRT lane at Iyana Ipaja, resulting in injuries to 10 passengers.
The accident, which occurred shortly after the bus had departed from the BRT park at Iyana Ipaja, was confirmed by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).
According to an update from LASTMA on X (formerly Twitter), the bus collided with an abandoned pedestrian bridge foot immediately after the Iyana Ipaja bridge, causing it to tip over onto its side.
Emergency services were promptly dispatched to the scene, and all 10 victims have since received the necessary medical attention.
LASTMA officials were also on-site to manage the situation, ensuring the safety of the victims and directing traffic.
The accident has led to significant traffic disruptions in the area, with efforts currently underway to clear the lane and restore normal traffic flow.
