A 45-year-old man, Aramide Tito, was arraigned on Monday at the Chief Magistrates Court, Badagry, for allegedly assaulting and starving his 11-year-old stepson in Lagos.
Aramide is facing charges of assault, indecent treatment and attempted murder, brought against him by the Nigerian police.
During Mondayโs proceedings, the prosecutor, ASP Clรฉment Okuoimose, informed the court that Tito committed the offences on August 17, at around 11:00 p.m. in Oke Ogbe Area, Atura, Badagry, Lagos State.
Okuoimose said Aramide allegedly beat up and starved the young boy for three days and poured hot water on him while he was asleep, trying to murder him during the period.
According to Okuoimose, the offences contravene Sections 135, 245, and 230 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
The Presiding Magistrate, A.J. Aina granted Aramide bail in the sum of โฆ100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The magistrate said each surety must be gainfully employed and subsequently adjourned the case till September 25 for further hearing of the matter.
