Moghalu Resigns From APC

Dr. George Moghalu, a founding member and former National Auditor of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has resigned from the ruling party.

His resignation was made known in a letter addressed to the chairman of Uruagu Ward 1 in Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State, and made available to newsmen on Tuesday.

Moghaluโ€™s resignation comes after months of speculation and repeated denials regarding his planned departure from the APC.

The resignation letter, titled โ€œResignation of Membership of the APC,โ€ was also sent to both the partyโ€™s state and local government chairmen.

In the letter, Moghalu who had served in various capacities in the party, including his most recent role as the Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority, cited personal reasons for his decision to leave the party, though he did not disclose his next political move.

Moghalu wrote, โ€œI bring you the good wishes of my dear family and wish to formally notify you of my decision to resign my membership of the APC with effect from today, 26 August 2024.

โ€œPlease accept this as my personal decision. It is my utmost desire and expectation that we will continue to maintain the cordial relationship that we have built together over the years.

โ€œI wish you and all the members of the party the very best. Please accept, as always, the assurance of my best regards.โ€
