MOROCCO thrashed their North African rivals Egypt 6-0 in Nantes today to claim the men’s football event bronze medal of the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Tournament top scorer Soufiane Rahimi struck twice to take his tally to eight goals, while captain Achraf Hakimi netted a spectacular free-kick to earn Morocco their first-ever football medal at the Olympic Games.
Abde Ezzalzouli got the Morocco party started in the 23rd minute with the opening goal and the lethal Rahimi doubled the advantage three minutes later.
Morocco then absolutely destroyed the Egyptians in the second half, scoring four goals without reply.
Bilal El Khannous made it 3-0 six minutes after the restart, and Rahimi completed his brace in the 64th minute.
Morocco did not relent as Akram Nakach made it 5-0 in the 73rd minute and Hakimi completed the humiliation of their neighbours with a special free-kick goal three minutes from time.
