A mother and her four children have died from suspected food poisoning in Abubor Nnewichi community, Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The mother, Onyinye and her children, Miracle, Dominion, Amanda, and Kosi were reported to have died after having a meal.
However, the exact cause of the poisoning is yet to be known.
The husband and father of the deceased, who arrived after the incident, suffered a shock after returning home to find his family members lifeless and was rushed to the hospital.
Two other siblings, a boy and a girl, escaped the tragedy as they were not living with their parents in Nnewi.
The spokesperson of Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident, adding that the police have began investigations on the matter.
“It is a case of sudden and unnatural death reported to the command,” he said.
He noted that the bodies of the victims have been deposited at the morgue for autopsy.
