OPERATIVES of the Nasarawa State Police Command arrested Hauwa Sani yesterday for hiding 124 rounds of anti-aircraft ammunition inside a gallon of palm oil.
The Commandโs Public Relations Officer, Ramhan Nansel, disclosed this in a statement posted on X.com today.
According to Nansel, police operatives also found N78,500 in cash and a mobile phone on the suspect, who was attempting to smuggle the ammunition to Katsina state.
The Commissioner of Police Shehu Nadada has ordered that the suspect and the recovered items be transferred to the Force Intelligence Department at the Force Headquarters in Abuja for further investigation.
The statement reads, โOn 23/8/2024 at approximately 1710hrs, based on credible information, police operatives attached to Keffi Division intercepted and arrested Hauwa Sani, along with a 2-year-old child, in Doro village, Katsina state.
โOne hundred and twenty-four (124) rounds of anti-aircraft ammunition concealed in a gallon of palm oil, one Tecno mobile phone, and a cash sum of seventy-eight thousand five hundred naira (โฆ78,500) were recovered from the suspect as evidence.
โPreliminary findings revealed that the suspect obtained the ammunition at Rafin Sanyi village in Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa state and concealed the items in a gallon of palm oil en route to Katsina state before being apprehended.โ
