Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, has officially assumed office as the 32nd President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) during a ceremony held in Lagos. He takes over from Mr. Yakubu Maikyau, SAN, whose tenure concluded today.
In his inaugural speech, Osigwe emphasized his commitment to holding both federal and state governments accountable, stating, โUnder my watch, the NBA will hold the federal and state governments to account.โ
He assured members of the bar and the general public that the NBA would remain steadfast in its mission to uphold the rule of law and promote justice across the country.
Osigweโs leadership marks the beginning of a new chapter for the NBA, with expectations high for continued advocacy and reform within the legal profession and the broader Nigerian society.
