Osun Community Begs Adeleke For Intervention After Hoodlums Attacks

A rustic town, Araromi-Owu community in Aiyedade Local Government Area of Osun State has raised alarm after the town was deserted following several attacks by hoodlums leading to killings of security operatives, and others and razing of houses over chieftaincy tussle.

NewsNGR recalled that there was a crisis in the community last week over a chieftaincy tussle which resulted in the loss of lives and properties. The Osun State Police Command had confirmed the arrest of nine people.

Meanwhile, the chiefs of the town in Osogbo on Monday urged Governor Ademola Adeleke to urgently set up a judicial panel of enquiry to investigate the remote and immediate causes of the incident that led to the killing of an officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) and one other over the crisis.

The chiefs through Chief Ganiyu Opawuyi, said, โ€œEver since the Chieftaincy crisis which resulted in killings which forced many residents including the chiefs to desert the town predominantly dominated by farmers.โ€

He explained that Oba Olukayode Oremakinde is the recognised monarch in the town as opposed to by some people who sponsored hoodlums against his installation.

โ€œWe have been living in fear and the community is deserted after the incident. We charge Governor Adeleke to ensure that perpetrators are brought to book,โ€ he said
