Police arraign alleged notorious Osun thug in Abuja court

Osun State Police Command has revealed that an armed robbery suspect, Olabode Owoeye also known as Bode Itaapa, has been charged to court.

The Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Umar Abba made this known through a statement issued by the commandโ€™s spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola on Wednesday.

CP Umar Abba in the statement said 32-year-old Owoeye was charged on a five-count charge bothering on conspiracy, armed robbery, unlawful possession of firearms and murder at the Federal High Court, Abuja, with charge number FHC/ABJ/CR/323/2024.

The statement said, โ€œThe Osun State Police Command is using this medium to update the members of the public, especially the good people of Osun State that the arrested suspect, one Olabode Owoeye, a.k.a. Bode Itaapa has been charged to court at the Federal High Court, Abuja, with charge No. FHC/ABJ/CR/323/2024 on five count charge.

โ€œIt would be recalled that, Olabode Owoeye, a.k.a Bode Itaapa was one of the suspects arrested and paraded recently by the Osun State Police Command at Police Headquarters, Osogbo for various offences before the case was transferred to Abuja as requested/directed by the Inspector General of Police (IGP).โ€

DAILY POST reported that Owoeye was arrested and paraded by the police early in July, 2024.

Upon interrogation by the police, he had revealed that he was a political thug for the House of Representatives member for Ijesa South Federal Constituency, Sanya Omirin, who is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Meanwhile, CP Umar Abba has assured residents of the state that he is committed to ensuring their safety and security.

He also assured that the Command was working tirelessly to apprehend and prosecute anyone involved in heinous crimes in the state in order to make Osun State a sanctuary.
