Police arraign five men for looting Ekiti government property

Ekiti State Police Command has arraigned five men before the Magistrate Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti for alleged stealing of construction materials belonging to the state government.

The suspects, Bamidele Solomon, Folorunsho Dada, Sunday Idowu, Olaniyi Opeyemi and Olaniyi Bamidele were brought before Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun.

The suspects were arraigned on three counts of conspiracy to steal granite the property of Ekiti State government valued at N472,500. They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The police prosecutor, Mr Akinwale Oriyomi told the court that the defendants allegedly committed the offences on 5th August, 2024.

The prosecutor thereafter asked for a trial date following their not-guilty plea.

According to the prosecutor, the alleged offences violate sections 421, 302 (1) (A) and 343 of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State, 2021.

The Magistrate, however, granted bail of N200,000 with two surety each while the case was adjourned until September 6th for the commencement of trial.
