Police Arrest 25 Protesters In Kaduna

At least 25 protestors have been arrested by security forces in Kaduna State as a result of altercations that broke out when protesters tried to obstruct the route that leads to the Government House.

Protesters who were adamant about breaking into the Kaduna State Government House were dispersed with the use of tear gas.

The demonstrators had weapons on them, including knives and live bullets.

Police said that criminals and outlawed elements of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), known as Shiites, had infiltrated and assumed control of the demonstration.

In a related event, demonstrators have raided and looted the Kaduna Investment and Promotions Agency (KADIPA) and Kaduna State Traffic Law Enforcement Authority (KASTLEA) offices.

The protest, which involved hundreds of young people, were sparked by anger at federal policies and hunger. With signs and leaves in their hands, the demonstrators proceeded to Kaduna Metropolisโ€™ streets to call for change.

To stop more violence and restore order, security forces have been stationed throughoutย theย city.
