Reactions Emerge Over Seyi Tinubu’s Presence at CJN Swearing-In Ceremony
The appearance of Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, at the swearing-in ceremony of Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun as the 23rd Chief Justice of Nigeria has sparked mixed reactions online.
The event, which took place on Friday at the Council Chamber of the State House in Abuja, saw Justice Kekere-Ekun take the oath of office and sign the oath register.
A post on X (formerly Twitter) showing Seyi Tinubu at the event has generated considerable debate. Many users have expressed criticism, with some suggesting nepotism and undue favoritism.
User @USMOVIC commented, “It’s their turn,” implying a sense of inevitability about such scenarios under the current administration.
Another user, @BadmusFranca, speculated, “Don’t be surprised when he becomes a governor tomorrow. He is being mentored.”
User @Don17488409 criticized the situation, stating, “They have turned this country to a joke, family affair,” while @INwaudunna37240 remarked, “Anything is possible in Nigeria take it or leave it.”
Conversely, some users defended Seyi Tinubu. @WORLDWIDEFINAN5 argued, “If your father is Nigeria president may you be banished from entering Aso Villa like a fugitive, bcoz your relationship with your father is not good doesn’t mean other children don’t enjoy cordial relationship with their father irrespective of their status.”

This controversy follows a previous incident in October 2023 when President Tinubu cautioned against unauthorized access to Federal Executive Council (FEC) meetings.
The President had noted that Seyi Tinubu and other individuals were observed entering and exiting these crucial meetings, leading to a clear directive that only specific advisers and officials were permitted access.
“Unless I send for you, don’t come,” President Tinubu had emphasized, delineating access to the FEC meetings.
This latest event highlights ongoing discussions about the roles and privileges of political families in Nigeria and the public’s scrutiny of perceived nepotism in governance.
