Six Die, Three Injured on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Auto Crash

Six persons have died in an auto crash that occurred on Friday when a Sienna bus rammed into a moving truck on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway corridor of Ogun State.

Three other persons also sustained varying degrees of injuries from the accident.

Two vehicles- an Ash Toyota Sienna with registration number: EPE692EL, and an unidentified truck were involved in the crash.

Spokesperson of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Florence Okpe confirmed this to newsmen in a statement on Friday.

Okpe said that the auto crash involved nine Passengers (two male adults and seven female adults). While three persons (female adults) sustained injuries the remaining six (two male and four female) died on the spot.

She said that the cause of the accident was due to loss of control of the Sienna bus driver who rammed into the moving truck from the back

The Chief route commander added that the driver of the truck refused to stop his vehicle immediately the bus rammed into the truck

She said that the injured victims had been taken to Patmag Hospital, Ogere, and the corpses deposited at FOS Morgue at Ipara

The Sector Commander, Ogun Sector Command, CC Akinwumi Fasakin, described the crash as an avoidable act if proper caution was fully put in place by the bus driver.

Fasakin urged motorists to ensure they give maximum concentration to driving and obey all traffic rules while driving on the highway.

He further commiserated with the families of the crash victims and wish the injured victims quick recovery.
