A fully loaded Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) bus fell on Friday morning, with at least ten people injured.
It was gathered that the bus was heading to Island from Iyana Ipaja, when the accident occurred.
In a video shared by an X user Godwin Uche with the username @Godwingosh, a victim is seen lying motionless, with blood gushing out of the personโs head.
โPleas3 check on your loved ones. BRT carrying over 50 passengers to the island from Iyana ipaja had a fatal accident and tumbled 6am this morning. A lot of casualties,โ Uche tweeted.
Confirming the accident, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) said the bus fell on its side inside the dedicated BRT lane, adding that recovery effort was in progress.
โA fully loaded high capacity bus fell on its side inside the dedicated lane(BRT lane) with a record of 10 casualties (Victims), in which they were taken care of.
โRecovery of the affected vehicles is in progress and itโs expected to be completed soonest,โ the agency said on X.
But when contacted by NewsNGR for more details of the accident, the spokesperson of LASTMA, Adebayo Taofiq, said he was not aware of the incident.
He, however, promised to get back to our correspondent.
