Tinubu Depart France for Swearing-In of Kekere-Ekun as CJN

President Bola Tinubu is set to return to Nigeria on Friday to swear in Kudirat Kekere-Ekun as the new Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN).

According to sources, the president will depart from France on Thursday night, after a brief work stay.

The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to take place at the council chambers of the presidential villa in Abuja. Tinubuโ€™s early return from his trip underscores the significance of the occasion.

The current CJN, Olukayode Ariwoola, officially retired on Thursday after reaching the mandatory retirement age of 70. A valedictory ceremony was held in his honor at the Supreme Court.

On August 15, the National Judicial Council (NJC), during its 106th meeting, recommended Kekere-Ekun to President Tinubu as Ariwoolaโ€™s successor. Kekere-Ekunโ€™s appointment is expected to mark a significant moment in Nigeriaโ€™s judiciary.
