President Bola Tinubu is set to depart Abuja on Thursday for a high-level diplomatic mission to Beijing, China.
The visit, which underscores the growing ties between Nigeria and China, will focus on accelerating key infrastructure projects and strengthening economic collaboration.
The Presidency, through a statement released on Tuesday by Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, detailed the President’s itinerary, which includes meetings with top Chinese firms such as Huawei Technologies and the China Railway and Construction Corporation. These engagements are crucial to expediting the completion of significant projects, including the Ibadan to Abuja segment of the Lagos to Kano high-speed rail line.
Ngelale’s statement read: “President Bola Tinubu will depart Abuja for Beijing, China, on Thursday, 29th August, for an official visit. President Tinubu will have a brief layover in the United Arab Emirates.”
In Beijing, President Tinubu is expected to hold discussions with Chinese President Xi Jinping and engage with key Chinese business leaders. These meetings will take place on the sidelines of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), where both nations aim to enhance bilateral ties and explore new avenues for cooperation.
The President will be accompanied by senior government officials, reflecting the importance of this diplomatic mission in fostering stronger economic and infrastructural partnerships between Nigeria and China.
