President Bola Tinubu has postponed the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting scheduled for Monday to hold an emergency meeting with security chiefs.
The FEC meeting was scheduled to take place at the council chambers of the Presidential Villa but was abruptly rescheduled.
Ministers who had arrived for the meeting reportedly left the venue on Monday afternoon.
The agenda of the security meeting was not disclosed but it comes amidst recent nationwide protests over economic hardship.
On Sunday, Tinubu addressed the nation, calling for an end to the protests and inviting demonstrators to engage in dialogue.
The postponed FEC meeting was expected to discuss the governmentโs response to the demonstrations.
