Tinubu To Rest In UAE En Route To China

President Bola Tinubu will depart Abuja for Beijing, China, on Thursday on an official visit.

Chief Ajuri Ngelale, his spokesman, said Tinubu would have a brief layover in the United Arab Emirates.

โ€œIn China, the President will meet with President Xi Jinping and hold meetings with Chinese business leaders on the sidelines of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.

โ€œPresident Tinubu will be accompanied by senior government officials on the trip,โ€ said Ngelale.

The president is embarking on the foreign trip barely a week after he returned from France.

The state visit will coincide with the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, where the Nigerian leader is expected to engage in high-level discussions and strengthen bilateral ties between Nigeria and China.

During the visit, Tinubu is expected to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping, where several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) will be signed.

The presidentโ€™s itinerary includes visits to two major Chinese corporations, Huawei Technologies, as well as the China Railway and Construction Corporation (CRCC).

Tinubu would also hold meetings with ten Chief Executive Officers of Chinese companies operating in various sectors crucial to Nigeriaโ€™s development, including oil and gas, aluminium production, agriculture, and satellite technology.

Ngelale had earlier said President Tinubu would make a presentation at the Forum on Chinaโ€“Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit in his capacity as the chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government.

Afterwards, Tinubu would proceed to the high-level peace and security plenary, where he would further make a presentation on peace and security in the region and in Africa.
