The Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs has advised Nigerians planning to travel to the United Kingdom (UK) to adopt safety precautions due to the violence that erupted in parts of the country.
The riots started after a violent knife attack on July 29, in a dance studio on Hart Street, Southport, where 11 children and 2 adults were stabbed, leading to the death of three girls.
In a statement on Monday, the spokesperson of the ministry, Amb. Eche Abu-obe, said the demonstrations by far-right and other extra-parliamentary groups in parts of the UK in recent weeks have continued to grow, putting the lives of citizens at risk, especially Muslim immigrants and persons of colour.
The ministry warned Nigerians planning to travel to the country to be vigilant and avoid political protests, processions, rallies, and large gatherings.
