The Pro-chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of University of Calabar (UNICAL), Udom Ekpoudom has alleged that some officials of the school are behind the massive certificate fraud uncovered by the National Youth Service Corps(NYSC).
Recall that the NYSC had said 99 persons, with the exemption of two others, were fraudulently mobilised from the University of Calabar between the 2021 and 2023 service years.
The Scheme said the certificates of National Service of those persons, have been invalidated, urging the public to confirm the authenticity of certificates presented by the National Directorate Headquarters of the NYSC.
Ekpoudom said that investigations had commenced to uncover the perpetrators of the massive fraud.
He added that any official found culpable would be severely dealt with.
“The NYSC has done very well to have uncovered this forgery. This is just the first phase. The next phase is for us to find out those behind this saga.
“I can confirm that the people are not students of UNICAL. These guys are criminals,” he said.
