UniPort Debunks Report on Clearance Fees for Final Year Students

The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) has dismissed as false an online report claiming that final-year students are required to pay N649,400 as clearance fees.

In a statement, the universityโ€™s Head of Information, Publications, and Public Relations, Dr. Sam Kpenu, described the report as โ€œentirely falseโ€ and โ€œmisleadingโ€.

According to Kpenu, UNIPORT is committed to providing affordable and accessible higher education, with some of the lowest school fees compared to other federal universities in Nigeria.

He noted that the university also offered scholarships and extended deadlines for fee payments to support students facing financial difficulties.

Kpenu, however, urged students and the public to rely only on official communications from the university for accurate information regarding fees and financial matters.

He also called on the media to verify their stories before publication to avoid spreading false information.

Consequently, the universityโ€™s swift response aims to alleviate concerns among students and parents, reiterating its dedication to transparency and affordability in higher education.
