Afrobeats singer Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, has returned to his hometown of Benin City, Edo State, ahead of his much-anticipated homecoming concert.
The event is scheduled for August 30, 2024, at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium. This is Remaโs first performance in Benin in six years.
His arrival was met with excitement on Tuesday, with His record label, Mavin sharing a video on its official X page, captioned, โBenin, your illustrious son; The Prince of Afrobeats โ Rema is Home!โ
The concert was first announced in July, following a previously planned event in December 2023 that was canceled due to health concerns.
Remaโs homecoming concert is not just a musical event but a celebration of his roots and the city that shaped his rise to global fame.
The concert is expected to draw fans from across Nigeria, to witness โPrince of Afrobeatsโ who has put Benin City on the global map with hits like โCalm Downโ and โDumebi.โ
The involvement of Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has further promoted the concert.
