THE Governor of Yobe State, Mai Buni, following a security council meeting with heads of security agencies, has announced further relaxation of the curfew in the towns of Potiskum, Gashua, and Nguru, in response to the recent nationwide protests that turned violent.
A press release from the Governorโs Director General for Press and Media Affairs, Mamman Mohammed, revealed that the new curfew will be in effect from 6 PM to 6 AM starting today.
The meeting expressed concern over the emergence of hoodlums and criminals who exploited the nationwide protests to vandalize and loot both public and private properties within the affected local government areas.
As a result, the council urged parents and guardians to closely monitor their children and to prevent them from being used as instruments of destruction and theft.
Governor Buni also commended security forces for their mature and professional management of the situation.
