The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has begun deploying its trucks to the Dangote Refinery in preparation for the scheduled loading of petrol, set to begin tomorrow, Sunday, September 15, 2024. A total of 300 trucks are expected to be on site to load petrol as the refinery commences operations.
NNPC’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, confirmed the development, stating, “We (NNPC Ltd) have started deploying our trucks and vessels to the Dangote Refinery to lift PMS (petrol), in preparation for the scheduled lifting date of September 15th, as set by the refinery. Our trucks and personnel are already on site, ready to begin lifting.”
Soneye further shared an update on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), noting, “By the end of today, at least 300 trucks will be stationed at the refinery’s fuel loading gantry.”
The deployment of NNPC trucks and personnel will continue throughout the weekend to ensure a smooth start to petrol lifting operations.
As of Saturday afternoon, over 100 trucks had already arrived at the refinery’s fuel loading gantry in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos, with hundreds more expected to follow.
This marks a significant step as the Dangote Refinery begins its long-anticipated petrol production and distribution, with NNPC playing a central role in ensuring efficient fuel transport across the country.
