The Abia State Government says it will deploy security personnel across educational institutions in the state as a robust security measures to safeguard students, teachers, and school properties.
This development was disclosed by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Prince Okey Kanu, during a press briefing following this week’s State Executive Council (SEC) meeting, chaired by State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti on Monday.
Prince Kanu highlighted that this initiative is a key component of the administration’s comprehensive reform agenda for the education sector, fulfilling a critical promise made by Governor Otti.
“This deployment is a clear fulfilment of our commitment to protect the lives and properties of students and teachers across the state,” stated Prince Kanu.
Kanu further noted that the safety of educational institutions has been a priority for the Otti administration, and the current measures are designed to address long-standing concerns.
“As part of this reform agenda, the state government has now actualized its promise by posting security personnel to our schools.
“This initiative is aimed at ensuring that the lives and properties of students, teachers, and school facilities are fully protected”.
With schools set to reopen on September 16, the proactive steps taken by the Abia State Government underscore its dedication to creating a safe and conducive learning environment for all.
