APC Will Emerge Victorious In Free, Fair LG poll – Uzodimma

Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma has said that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will win the local government polls on Saturday in the state in a free and fair contest.

The governor said this on Thursday at the Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu Square, Owerri during the grand finale rally of the APC ahead of the Saturday Council election in Imo State.

He assured that the elections will be free, fair and transparent as promised by the State Independent Electoral Commission.

During the rally, the APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje presented the Party’s flag to the 27 Chairmanship and 305 Ward Councillorship candidates, and reminded them that they are the foundation builders of the society.

He said:”Although it is called local government, you are not local, you are foundation builders.”

According to a press statement by Chief Press Secretary and Media Adviser to the Governor, Oguwike Nwachuku, the governor “expressed confidence that the APC will emerge victorious at the poll noting that the candidates are not products of transparent primaries, but have shown to be popular in their communities.

“He emphasised the significance of the grand finale rally as a way to show solidarity and support to the candidates, and as a way of boosting the campaigns which the Chairmanship and Councillorship candidates have been carrying out in their different localities.”

The Governor however regretted that the local government election had been delayed since 2021 due to insecurity and banditry.

He guaranteed that the Council election would be conducted in a manner that is free, fair, and transparent, and he invited those who oppose the current Local Government Council to cast their votes for their preferred parties on Saturday. Nevertheless, he expressed his confidence in residents of the State to support the APC.
