FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta has publicly criticized Real Madrid, revealing the strained relationship between the two Spanish football giants.
Speaking on the ongoing controversy surrounding the Negreira case, Laporta expressed his displeasure with how Real Madrid has handled the situation, which has further soured relations between the two clubs.
“The relationship between us and Real Madrid is very bad,” Laporta stated, highlighting the deepening rift between the rivals. He went on to criticize Real Madrid’s approach to the Negreira case, a legal matter involving Barcelona and their alleged involvement in payments to José María Enríquez Negreira, a former referee and vice-president of Spain’s referees’ committee.
“The way they have used the Negreira case against us is unacceptable,” Laporta continued, voicing his frustration with what he perceives as an opportunistic move by Real Madrid to exploit the situation to their advantage.
Despite the ongoing tensions, Laporta remains defiant, signaling that Barcelona will not back down.
“Let them do what they want, and we will do what we want,” he concluded, suggesting that both clubs are likely to continue their respective paths independently, without seeking reconciliation anytime soon.
