Bauchi Govt Donates N250m To Flood Victims In Borno

The government of Bauchi State has donated N250 million to help Borno State flood victims who are facing a humanitarian crisis in the local government areas of Maiduguri and Jere.

The donation was made during a sympathy visit to the Borno State Government House in Maiduguri on Monday, by Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, where he met with his counterpart, Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno.

Mohammed revealed he had sent the Bauchi State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to assist the Borno Humanitarian Response Squad in helping the impacted areas.

โ€œI saw you managing the crisis on the day it happened, and I thought you were handling a similar situation as before. But as the situation unfolded, it became clear that this was a disaster of unprecedented proportions.โ€

While describing the floodโ€™s impact, he said: โ€œIt has caused immense destruction of lives and properties, and continues to inflict pain on the people. We were confused about how to intervene, but decided to take a modest approach by providing cooked food for 10,000 people, twice a day, to help save lives.โ€

Zulum was reassured by Mohammed that his team would stay in Borno till things got better.

โ€œI commend your courage and resilience in the face of this adversity,โ€ Mohammed said. โ€œYou have always demonstrated exceptional leadership, using your knowledge and expertise to conquer challenges. Thank you for your steadfastness.โ€

Zulum said that he was appreciative of the donation and called it a โ€œtimely intervention.โ€. He expressed his gratitude to the Bauchi State Government for supporting Borno State in its hour of need.

โ€œWe are deeply touched by your gesture, and I assure you that the N250 million donation will be judiciously utilized to alleviate our peopleโ€™s suffering.

โ€œThe support from your government is a testament to the bond between our states and commitment to humanity,โ€ย Zulumย added.
