Third batch of 180 Nigerians fleeing from the Russia-Ukrainian war arrived Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja from Budapest, Hungary, Friday night.

With their arrival, no fewer than 775 Nigerians had been flown back to the country.ย 

Early Friday morning, the first batch comprising 415 persons had arrived from Romania while the second batch, comprising 180, arrived from Poland at about 6:30 pm.

All the evacuees were received at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.ย 

When this report was filed, one more batch was still being expected from Hungary and Poland.

The stranded Nigerians, mostly students from Bucharest and Warsaw, were evacuated by Max Air and Air Peace chartered flights.ย 

Russia had last week invaded Ukraine, a development that has led to the death of hundreds of civilians and troops. Thousands have been injured, millions displaced, and many Ukrainians and foreign nationals have fled Ukraine for neighbouring countries.
