Dangote Refinery Begins Petrol Loading as NNPC Deploys Fleet of Trucks

The Dangote Refinery, located in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State, commenced the loading of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, on Sunday.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPC) mobilized a fleet of trucks to the refinery to facilitate the transportation of the fuel.

In a video shared on the Dangote Groupโ€™s X (formerly Twitter) handle, the first set of trucks was seen preparing for the loading of PMS.

The groupโ€™s tweet read, โ€œFirst set of trucks set for loading of PMS at the Dangote Petroleum Refinery.โ€

The NNPC, through a tweet on Saturday, had announced the deployment of hundreds of trucks to the refinery ahead of the scheduled loading.

โ€œIn preparation for the Dangote Refineryโ€™s scheduled petrol loading on Sunday, 15th September 2024, NNPC Ltd has been mobilising trucks to the refineryโ€™s fuel loading gantry in Ibeju-Lekki,โ€ the tweet read.

As of Saturday afternoon, the national oil company confirmed that over 100 trucks had already been deployed, with many more on the way to support the large-scale distribution of fuel across the country.

This development marks a significant milestone for the Dangote Refinery, which is expected to play a major role in reducing Nigeriaโ€™s dependence on fuel imports and stabilizing the local fuel market.
