The president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Mr Joe Ajaero, has been released by the Department of State Services (DSS).
The labour leader was picked up on Monday by the secret police at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on his way to the United Kingdom.
His arrest was condemned by several persons and entities, including civil society organisations (CSOs) like the Amnesty International and others.
On Monday night, Mr Ajaero was released on bail by the DSS and may still need to visit the security agency when required.
Confirming his release, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Mr Omoyele Sowore, said on X, formerly known as Twitter, โThe fascist regime of @officialABAT has released the @NLCHeadquarters President Joe Ajaero from @OfficialDSSNG custody on bail.โ
