Ahead of Saturday September 21 Gubernatorial election in Edo State, Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), have been deployed to all local government areas in Edo State to tackle votersโ inducement during the election.
According to a post on the commissionโs official social media handle on Friday, the Executive Chairman of EFCC Mr. Ola Olukoyede, said that the commission was committed to the attainment of electoral integrity across the country by protecting voters from every form of financial inducement in exercising their franchise.
He said: โOur operatives have been deployed to monitor the conduct of the elections. We are committed to the attainment of electoral integrity by ensuring that voters cast their votes democratically without any form of financial inducement.
โVote buying is a financial crime and the EFCC wonโt allow it anywhere.โ
The governorship election in Edo State is scheduled for Saturday, September 21 with Asue Ighodalo from the Peoples Democratic Party, Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress, and Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party as the leading candidates.
